My son's 2024 Kona has a damaged lower tail light, and the dealer quoted $1500 for the fix. I’ve found OEM replacements on eBay. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace it myself, or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the shop?

If you’re handy, you can definitely replace it yourself, check YouTube for guides, shouldn’t be too tricky, just be careful with panel clips. $1,500 sounds crazy high..

That dealer's price for a tail light is crazy. You can probably fix it yourself easily. Modern tail lights usually just bolt or clip in and the wires plug right in. Just be gentle with the plastic when it's cold. Buy a replacement online and watch a video to see how it's done. You'll save a lot of money. Unless you're really scared of fixing cars that job shouldn't cost that much.

See if you can find a repair manual or online guide. Might save you a ton.
