My Hyundai Kona, with only 6000 miles, is showing 0% oil life. Even though my prepaid maintenance plan covers oil changes at 8000 miles and I use full synthetic oil, the dealership refused an oil change, saying it's "too soon" and the oil level is fine. They advised me to wait another month. Is it safe to drive with a 0% oil life indicator, especially with synthetic oil?

You can actually change your oil change reminder to 8,000 miles in your car's settings. A lot of dealerships set it at 5,000, so it's worth checking and bumping it up if you want.

Seeing 0% oil life at 6,000 miles is a big warning sign and their too early reason doesn't make sense. Even though synthetic oil lasts longer the car checks more than just miles. Driving with 0% oil life is risky because it means the oil might be bad. You should argue with the dealer tell them about the 0% reading and that you're worried about your engine. If they still won't help call Hyundai directly and keep records of everything. They need to do the oil change since you have a prepaid plan. Don't drive your car with bad oil because they're being difficult.

Have you contacted your dealer about this? What did they find out? I am also curious why for 6k miles you only have 0% oil.

That’s definitely a red flag with the oil life already at 0%, even with synthetic oil. Since you’ve got that prepaid maintenance plan, the dealership should take your concerns seriously and get on top of it. If they’re dragging their feet, I’d say escalate it to Hyundai customer service. Keep pushing them—your engine’s health is on the line here!
