My brand new Kona Hybrid is driving me nuts! It keeps getting stuck in park, flashing "gear is already selected," and won't even turn off! It magically fixes itself, but the dealer is useless (and even blamed me!). Now it's saying "check shift lock system." I'm so confused. Anyone else dealing with this?!

This issue is known. It seems you are unlucky getting right into it.
Try pressing the brake firmly before shifting, using the manual shift lock release, or locking the car, waiting 30 seconds, then restarting.
It is hard when the dealer isn’t helping. What I would do if I were you is to document everything and try another service center. good luck.

I’d suggest contacting a different dealer or escalating the issue, hopefully, they’ll take it seriously this time!

Getting stuck in park and not turning off is dangerous and the dealer shouldn;t blame you. The error messages show there's likely a problem with the car's shifting system or its wiring. It's probably a random electrical issue that's why it sometimes works. Don't let the dealer ignore you it's a safety problem they have to fix. Take pictures or videos of the error messages, and if the dealer won't help complain to Hyundai directly. You shouldn't have these problems with a new car.

How about pulling the battery for a few minutes to reset the system? If that doesn't work, definitely keep pushing the dealer or escalate it. A brand-new car shouldn’t be this problematic!

Ugh, that’s a nightmare! Definitely document everything—error messages, what the dealer says, and even when the car magically fixes itself. If the dealer’s not helpful, escalate to Hyundai directly. This isn't a normal "new car issue," and they should be taking it seriously, especially when it’s affecting safety! Keep pushing for a fix; you deserve better than this.
