Ugh, so some newbie driver bumped me at a red light last week! My poor car's stuck in the shop now, and I’m totally stressing about how long this is gonna take. Anyone been through this? How long were you without your ride? I'm worried about parts being backordered and the whole thing dragging on forever.. Any tips for dealing with the repair shop or insurance in this mess?

I haven't seen such a vague post in a while. I am sorry, man, but you need to give more details. How bad was the hit? What parts need to be replaced? A part to be replaced can take from one hour to a full month or even more. But it really depends on the parts. So, again, could you be more specific?

Ugh, that’s rough! I’ve been through similar and it can be a headache. If parts are backordered, it might take a bit longer, but staying on top of the shop and insurance for updates helps. Definitely keep asking for timelines and if they have a loaner car available! Good luck

I was 3 months with out my car after a minor accident. But it was because the local dealer is anti electric cars and deliberately kept sending the wrong parts. They also would never schedule a warranty service for me or sell me an electric car. I drive 175 miles to get my regular service. The local dealer did such things as sending a left strut when a right one was ordered over and over again. Hyundai helped a little but insisted they pride themselves on their independent dealers. I Was told to go to a different dealer which means the long travel time. if I had known I couldn't get dealer service for my electric Hyundai I would have purchased a different make.

Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to be so vague! The rear bumper’s totally busted, and there's a pretty big dent in the panel. It’s a mess, but thankfully no major frame damage or anything. I’m just worried about how long the whole thing will take to fix, especially if parts are backordered. The insurance adjuster was pretty chill, but I don’t know how fast they’ll process everything.

Yikes, that’s rough! I can't imagine being without my car for that long, esp with the back-and-forth on parts. I’m trying to stay optimistic, but I’ve got this gut feeling the repair shop could drag their feet too. Any advice on how to keep things moving? Should I be calling them up regularly, or is there a smarter way to do it?
